ALFIE (Paramount Home Entertainment), based on Bill Naughton’s play, helped make Michael Caine a star as an English womanizer in this 1966 release. Aspect ratio is widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 TVs; sound formats are Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround and French Mono.

BEDAZZLED (20th Century Fox Home Video), released theatrically last year, is director Harold Ramis’ remake of the 1968 parody of the Faust myth. The new version stars Brendan Fraser as the hapless soul-seller and Elizabeth Hurley as the Devil. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1, English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround and French Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, with English and Spanish subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track from director Ramis, a second audio commentary track from Hurley and Trevor Albert, a making-of featurette, a featurette on the costume design and a stills gallery.

BROKEN BLOSSOMS (Kino on Video), D.W. Griffiths’ 1919 silent film starring Lillian Gish and Richard Barthelmess, has been released on DVD, digitally mastered from a 35mm print. The black-and-white film comes with a new music score by Joseph Turrin, plus an introduction to the film from Gish, excerpts from Gish’s 1925 film ROMOLA, a recording of the 1919 theme song and the Thomas Burke story on which the film is based.

CIRQUE DE SOLEIL: DRALION (Columbia/TriStar), released last year, is the latest surreal acrobatic allegory from the famed Cirque de Soleil troupe. Aspect ratio is 1.78:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1 and English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Extras include a making-of featurette and "multi-angle performances."

THE EVENING STAR (Paramount Home Entertainment), directed by Robert Harling and based on the novel by Larry McMurtry, is the sequel to TERMS OF ENDEARMENT. a reprise their roles, joined by Juliette Lewis, Bill Paxton, Scott Wolf and Miranda Richardson. Aspect ratio is widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 TVs; sound format is Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, with English subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track from director Harling and a making-of featurette.

THE FANTASTICKS (MGM/UA), released theatrically last year, is a film version of the longest-running musical in off-Broadway history (over 40 years and still playing). Michael Ritchie directs a cast headed by Jean Louisa Kelly, Joseph McIntyre, Joel Grey and Barnard Hughes. Aspect ratio is 2.35:1; sound formats are English Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround and Spanish Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround, with English, Spanish and French subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary from the director, deleted and longer versions of songs, 11 deleted scenes and an alternate ending.

GET CARTER (Warner Home Video), not the Sylvester Stallone remake but the original 1971 English gangster classic, is now available on DVD. Mike Hodges directs Michael Caine as a tough man seeking answers about his brother’s death in Newcastle. Aspect ratio is 1.66:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 2.0, with English and French subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track with Hodges, Caine and cinematographer Wolfgang Suschitzky and a music-only track.

IN PURSUIT (Paramount Home Entertainment) is a thriller starring Daniel Baldwin as an attorney accused of murder. Claudia Schiffer and Coolio also star; Peter Pistor directs. Aspect ratio is widescreen; sound format is Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, with English and Spanish subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary track with director Pistor and writer/co-producer John Penney, cast and filmmaker biographies and a stills gallery with talent trivia.

LOST SOULS (New Line Home Video), released theatrically last year, is the directorial debut of Oscar-winning cinematographer Janusz Kaminski. Winona Ryder and Ben Chaplin star in this horror film about a young Catholic woman trying to prevent Satan from inhabiting a New York author. Aspect ratio is 2.40:1; sound formats are English DTS Surround, English Dolby Digital 5.1 and English Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround. Extras include an audio commentary track with the director and cinematographer Mauro Fiore, deleted scenes, cast and crew filmographies and DVD-ROM content.

THE ORIGINAL KINGS OF COMEDY (Paramount Home Entertainment), released theatrically last year, is director Spike Lee’s backstage documentary about the enormously successful Kings of Comedy stage tour, starring Steve Harvey, D.L. Hughley, Cedric the Entertainer and Bernie Mac. Aspect ratio is widescreen, enhanced for 16x9 TVs; sound format is Dolby Digital 5.1, with English subtitles. Extras include an audio commentary with director Lee and the four stars, the featurette "Kings on the Town" and the Big Tymers music video "# 1 Stunna."

THE QUEENS OF COMEDY (Paramount Home Entertainment) is a comedy concert taped at the Orpheum Theatre in Memphis, TN, starring Miss Laura Hayes, Adele Givens, Sommore and Mo’Nique. Aspect ratio is 1.33:1; sound format is English Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround, with English subtitles. Extras include the featurette "Queens on the Town."

THE TIC CODE (Universal Home Video), released theatrically last year, is an engaging drama about a divorced mother (Polly Draper), who becomes involved with a jazz musician (Gregory Hines) who, like the woman’s son, has Tourette’s Syndrome. Gary Winick directed from Draper’s script. No aspect ratio information is available; sound format is English Dolby Surround, with English subtitles.
