Instrument has unveiled their new 1080p DLP chipset for front
projectors. The company sees1920 x 1080 resolution as the standard for
many high-definition content in the near future and is making the chips
available for both single-chip and three-chip applications. According
to Pacific Media Associates, DLP chips account for almost 70% of the
front projection market but they currently offer 720p resolution at
best.
The announcement follows a recent improvement in the color performance of the DLP single-chip projectors using BrilliantColor technology. The technology provides up to 6-color processing for single-chips and adds up to 50 percent brightness to mid tone images for more vibrant colors. Manufacturers expected to announce high-definition products using the 1080p chips include DWIN, InFocus, Marantz, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Optoma, Samsung, Sharp and Yamaha. |
