In-Stat has released a report projecting that products featuring HDMI support will enjoy a 23% annual growth rate in shipping through to 2012. The report also examined the market success of DVI support, and found it to be dropping by about 30% annually, and projecting that DVI-enabled product shipments will peak at 117 million between 2007 and 2008, and decline from there.
DTVs have nearly reached 100% support for HDMI, and set-top boxes, mobile PCs and DVD products are quickly following suit. Other niches in the consumer electronics industry are embracing HDMI support, and In-Stat points to portable media players and still and video cameras as areas to watch. According to In-Stat, the success of HDMI penetration is due largely to the Blu-Ray and DVD players that have quickly adopted HDMI support, which in turn supported the DTV HDMI trend. |
