Vudu, online video service providers, have announced a 50% reduction in price for its set-top, on-demand Internet movie players. Their HD set-top, Vudu XL and Vudu XL2 have all been reduced in price along with this announcement, to $149, $499 and $799 respectively. The wireless kit for these systems is now retailing for $79.
Vudu offers downloadable content, including SD and HD movies (up to 1080p) to its set-top hard disk drive storage. Vudu currently offers 13.000 purchasable movies and TV shows, which include 1,300 HD titles. The Vudu RIA platform has also recently been launched. This software allows Internet content to be directly displayed on the TV simply by using the Vudu remote, without requiring PC access. |
