Xbox 360 launched in 2005 one of the most interesting possibilities for the system was the possibility of using it as a set-top replacement for an existing cable box. It wasn't brought up much since then though, and it seemed to be one of those things that wasn't ever really happening.
Imagine the surprise when the folks at Engadget got a tip from an anonymous source detailing some internal documents stating that the feature would be available on November 7th, just a month from now.
The details are still a bit fuzzy, but there are a few things we know for sure. First, we know that the 360 won't be able to be the only set-top in the house. You'll still need at least one traditional cable box or DVR. Secondly, we know you'll need a hard drive to make it all work. There's no word on a size requirement though, so it's unclear whether the new 4GB Xbox 360 S will work or not.
