Over the top solutions like the Roku player and Apple TV started as basic as they come, but new players like Boxee and PopBox have been pushing the boundaries. PopBox scored a coup today when they announced that they'll be the first to bring 3D content to homes.
"Content created in 3D should be enjoyed in 3D," says COO Alex Limberis. "Leveraging the RealD Format gives our community a new dimension of HDTV entertainment right out of the gate." When the PopBox and PopBox Wireless ship, they'll be coming complete with 3D compatibility built right in. There's no need for a firmware or software update, they'll work right out of the gate. Whether there will be downloadable 3D content is another story, but we'll be eager to see what develops. |
