Available soon through Buckeye Cablevision, Mediacom, Sunflower Broadband and commercially available now, Pace promises users will be able to record up to six programs at a time while streaming an additional nine. The MoCA certified NAS sends streaming information to capable cable boxes via the home’s existing coaxial cable, rather than through a wired or wireless network. By using the coax cable for networking purposes, Pace is able to achieve a stated speed of 175Mbps, much higher than traditional networks. What this all means, essentially, is that customers will have access to DVR like controls in every room of the house, while only requiring one central storage device. Set-top boxes, albeit set-tops without hard drives, will still be required to view the content, of course.
