One out of eight cable subscribers, or 12.5 percent, said that they had plans to either scale back their cable subscription or cut it completely. There are plenty of good reasons, but one of the major ones cited by Yankee was the increased amount of over-the-top solutions. Yankee Group cited connected TVs as an upcoming source of cable cutting numbers. If there are entertainment options built right in to the set, consumers may not see the need to have a separate cable box.
