There's a growing demand for online video streaming as a driving force behind cable companies like Comcast, Cox Communications, Time Warner Cable, and Cablevisions Systems looking to create systems similar to Hulu for their customers. A platform that will allow cable subscribers to access cable TV shows via an online streaming format is being hashed out by big names in the industry. Leaders in the industry have not released many details, and it is not clear yet whether this service will be free or will cost a small fee. Comcast already has a site called Fancast.com that is similar to Hulu.com, and could be expanded to meet this growing demand. And other companies may expand the TV offerings on their websites to engage the online user base as well. |
