One of the big issues with UHDTVs right now is that there's nothing to watch on them – at least not natively. You can upscale your 1080p Blu-rays but that's not quite the same experience. Sony is giving an option to help tide you over until they launch their 4K content delivery network this summer in the form of Blu-rays made especially for 4K sets. "Mastered in 4K" Blu-rays are sourced directly from 4K masters and are presented in a high bitrate with expanded color. They'll look better in 1080p of course, but the real benefit is that they'll upscale even better than normal Blu-rays when you're enjoying them on a 4K set. |
