Neil Young's archive is back on track for a Blu-ray release. Young originally announced early in 2008 that he would be releasing his entire life's work on Blu-ray in volumes. Just a short time ago, it was announced that the Young Blu-ray release was postponed, maybe indefinitely.
But now, Young has given us the first concrete details on his first
volume. First, it is scheduled for release on February 24, 2009 by
Warner Music Group. The set will include 10 Blu-ray discs with at
least 128 tracks. This will include 43 unreleased songs as well as 13
never before heard songs.
The first volume will also contain two full albums: "Live at the
Fillmore East" and "Live at Massey Hall 1971." The content will span
his career from 1963 to 1972. In terms of video, the set includes the
full-length documentary, "Journey Through the Past." Last, the set
includes a 236-page hardcover book, containing lyrics, newspaper
articles, letters and a Neil Young timeline.
Now, get ready for the bad news…the collection will retail for
$431.99!!! Holy cow! Good luck trying to sell more than a handful of
these sets.
