In addition to their combo Blu-ray/DVD packaging, Walt Disney Home Entertainment will be testing the waters with a new release idea. Beginning with “Bolt,” Disney will release the Blu-ray edition of the film two days prior to the release of the film on standard DVD. Certainly this is a marketing idea to see how well the Blu-ray will do if not released at the same time as the DVD.
There have not been technical specifications released, but it is likely that it will be released as a 3-disc Blu-ray set and include a 1080p/AVC transfer. Bonus materials have been released. The extras will include the following. • “Super Rhino” gives Rhino the hamster his own adventure. • “I Thought I Lost You” is a Miley Cyrus and John Travolta music video. There is also a behind-the-scenes look at the recording session with Travolta and Cyrus. • “A New Breed of Directors” is a featurette with first-time directors of the film. • “The Voices of Bolt” goes behind the scenes with the voice cast of the film. • “Creating the World of Bolt” takes a look at the CGI of the film. • Deleted Scenes • Digital Copy • Bolt’s Be-Awesome Mission is an interactive game. • Bolt Art Gallery • BD-Live |
