The Informant!

If you missed this one in theaters, now’s the time to pick it up.  Matt Damon plays a character that’s nearly the polar opposite of Jason Bourne.  He’s clueless, deceptive, and completely unbalanced.  Scott Bakula and Joel McHale co-star as a pair of FBI agents that are dealing with Damon’s character.  The Informant! is a fantastic dark comedy based on a true story.

Dead Snow

If you’re anything like me, you were sold on this film as soon as you heard the phrase “Nazi zombies.”  Dead Snow is a Norwegian take on the zombie comedy and it delivers fully.  Not only is it brilliantly funny, but it’s beautifully shot too.  The film’s ending showcases some amazing shots with contrasting dark red blood on bright white snow that brings back memories of Sin City.  

The Box

From the director of Donnie Darko and Southland Tales comes The Box.  If you’re familiar with his past work, you’re already familiar with his style.  If you’re not, the word that can sum it all up is ‘strange’.  The Box is similar, though it takes a more traditional approach to filmmaking than the baffling Southland Tales.
