If you picked up a 3D capable Blu-ray player from Sony, today's the day you can drop the 'capable' bit and just call it a 3D Blu-ray player. The ability to go 3D no longer exists in potentia – it's actually here.
Sony announced the release of the firmware update along with the ability to preorder Sony's new 3D televisions from the Style Store. It applies to the BDP-S470 and BDP-S570 Blu-ray players and the BDV-E570 or BDV-E770W home theater systems, but not the PS3. Sony also set a June 22nd date for the 3D Blu-ray version of 'Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs,' which should give 3D fans plenty to celebrate. Next on the release slate – 'Monster House' and 'Open Season,' both of which will be featured in 3D preview form on 'Cloudy.' |
