Sherwood first showed their Blu-ray player at CEDIA this year. Shortly thereafter the company announced that the player's release would be delayed. The release was postponed even further when the market shifted and offered consumers relatively cheap Profile 2.0 players. At this point it was rumored that the player would be axed.
Sherwood has finally dropped the ball and have begun shipping its
BDP-5003 Blu-ray player. The player is only Profile 1.1 but promises
to deliver Sherwood's solid build quality. The retail price for the
player remains at $299, making it one of the cheaper players on the
market when it comes to high-end manufacturers. Still, there are less
expensive players available. We are all still looking for the magic
$99 price point.
