It’s always nice when leaked product information turns out to be true. Samsung’s Blu-ray players, which were temporarily – and accidentally – made available for pre-order on Amazon recently, are finally ready to sell.
The BD-C6500 is the heavy hitter of the pair. It’s got a gigabyte of built-in memory, access to BD-Live, a USB port and built in WiFi. Samsung boasts a 15 second start time for the player, and connectivity with Samsung Apps and Internet@TV. Samsung’s 5500 is a bit more of a barebones player. It doesn’t have the built in WiFi, but you can pick up a dongle. It also lacks the quick loads, but it does share the same 39mm height of the 6500. The BD-C6500 can be had for $299, while the BD-C5500 runs $199. There’s no word yet on Samsung’s hotly anticipated 3D player, the BD-C6900. |
