Opinions are strongly divided when it comes to 3D. Some folks like it enough that they've already ponied up for 3D capable gear and others aren't as confident. Either way, there are about to be 38 million new 3D capable Blu-ray players around the world.
At the Tokyo Game Show today, Sony announced that the arrival of a long awaited firmware update for their PlayStation 3. Firmware 3.50 launches on September 21 – that's next Tuesday – and will allow PS3 owners to watch 3D Blu-rays on their systems. It's an incredibly big deal for system owners that planned to go 3D, and an even bigger deal for Sony. The company that's behind one of the biggest 3D pushes just gave millions of users the ability to watch 3D movies – assuming they have a 3D capable TV of course. That's bound to turn some heads. |
