The VSX-520-K is a 5.1 channel receiver that pumps out 110 watts per channel. It’s got three HDMI 1.4 inputs, making it 3D ready and forwards compatible with upcoming components. It’s Bluetooth ready, though you’ll have to pick up an adapter, and it decodes the latest HD audio formats, including Dolby ProLogic IIz.
Pioneer’s VSX-820-K is similar in specs. It’s got the same Advanced Sound Retriever designed to clean up MP3s, and the same Auto Leveling Control, but adds MCACC auto-calibration. It also gives you an on screen display and an extra HDMI input to boot.
The VSX-520-K and 820-K release this month. The 520 sells for only $229, while the 820 will cost you $299.
