The Audyssey DSX surround technology that’s already in Denon’s AVR-4810CI and AVR-4310CI receivers will soon be available for the AVR-3310CI and AVR-990. Audyssey DSX is a set of algorithms designed to push 5.1 channel surround past its limitations by adding height and expanded width to existing channels. It synthesizes audio channels between the channels and controls delay, level and frequency response.
Jeff Talmadge, director of product development at Denon puts it this way, “Our customers can dramatically enhance the quality of their listening experience, without having to go out and buy a brand new receiver.” Of course, the upgrade isn’t free. Owners of the 3310 and 990 will have to pony up $100 for the upgrade. Starting February 1st you’ll be able to jump on to Denon’s website and buy the firmware update and install it into your reciver.
Customers who purchase the Audyssey DSX upgrade will also get a “valuable coupon good towards a purchase at the Denon Shop website. “ Talmadge says that this is another example of Denon’s commitment to customer satisfaction. “Denon is committed to ensuring that our customers are 'future ready’ and remain at the leading edge of all the latest performance-enhancing technologies.”
