Linn says they will show a new high end “combo-player” at CES that will play all of the new and existing formats one could ever want including DVD-Audio, SACD, DVD-Video, CD and more. The projected retail is $8,000 USD.
In a unique note, Linn is promoting their OEM program which allows other high end companies to purchase their transport mechanism and make modifications from there. The “combo-player” market early in the development of the new hi-res audio formats has been very popular with consumers and has been dominated by lower end Japanese manufacturers like Pioneer and Onkyo. Linn’s unit may allow other high end companies with less R&D to create a viable, high performance, high resolution DVD-Audio and SACD player sooner than later. Like this article?
