Since the launch of the SONDEK LP12 in 1972, a number of turntable upgrades have been introduced to allow customers to continuously improve the performance of their system. 35 years on, Linn is delighted to announce yet another series of upgrades for the SONDEK LP12.
The new LP12 SE series comprises three new upgrades, the EKOS SE tonearm, KEEL one-piece sub-chassis, armboard and collar, and new metal TRAMPOLIN base board. Each upgrade benefits from design and craftsmanship of the highest standard, developed from over 35 years of Linn’s precision engineering experience, and represents the highest performance product of its type ever produced by Linn.
Each of the LP12 SE upgrades delivers a revelation in performance for the SONDEK LP12 turntable, to reveal even more music from vinyl recordings.
EKOS SE tonearm
EKOS SE is Linn’s flagship tonearm, designed to nurture vinyl and extract the maximum information from the owner’s cherished vinyl collection.
Setting a new performance benchmark, EKOS SE features advanced materials carefully selected for their sound performance and low resonance properties to minimise interference, resonance and microphony, and extract even more from vinyl.
These include a machined titanium arm tube to reduce resonance within the arm and a stainless steel bearing housing which helps reduce unwanted tonearm movements.
Every EKOS SE tonearm is built to last using the latest manufacturing techniques and handcrafted to the highest quality standard, so that owners can continue to enjoy their vinyl collection for decades to come.
KEEL sub-chassis, armboard & collar
The KEEL is a combined sub-chassis, armboard & collar, machined from one solid piece of aluminium to provide rigid support to the tonearm and platter. There are no screws, fixings or joins to the part, which removes virtually all vibration, resulting in even more accurate reproduction of vinyl recordings.
KEEL has been engineered to maintain the same mass and centre of gravity as achieved with the separate sub-chassis, armboard and collar, ensuring that it integrates seamlessly with the suspension system of every SONDEK LP12 turntable.
KEEL is available in a standard black anodised finish to complement the simple design of the SONDEK LP12 turntable.
Metal TRAMPOLIN base board
The new TRAMPOLIN base board is manufactured from aluminium for increased rigidity. The material is acoustically deadened for reduced vibration, thus providing even better audio performance. The new metal TRAMPOLIN base board is a simple and effective way to improve the performance of a SONDEK LP12 turntable, enabling the listener to get even closer to the original recording.
The LP12 SE upgrades will be officially launched in the UK at Sound and Vision, The Bristol Show, from 23rd to 25th February 2007. The show will be held in the Marriott Hotel - City Centre, Bristol, and Linn will be located in the Executive Lounge. More information on the show can be found at www.bristolshow.co.uk.
Events demonstrating the LP12 SE upgrades will take place at Linn Turntable Specialists worldwide between February and April 2007. More information and pricing can be found on www.linn.co.uk. The upgrades will be available from February 2007.
