Rotel
has just introduced two new products – a DVD Receiver and an affordable
DVD-Audio player. The new RSDX-2 combines a DVD player, a 5.1-channel
surround-sound processor, an AM/FM tuner, and a 80 watt per channel
power amplifier into a single chassis receiver. Surround processing
include Dolby Digital and DTS for multichannel, Dolby Pro Logic II and
DTS Neo:6 for two-channel sources, and an All-Channel Stereo mode. The
unit can play DVD-Video discs, DVD-Audio discs, CDs, and MP3-encoded
CDs. It can also display JPEG files from encoded discs, such as those
used for storing digital photo albums.
The new RCD-1072's CD player uses latest-generation Burr-Brown DACs that incorporate HDCD decoding and are said to deliver true 18-bit precision. An upgraded master-clock that reduces time-base errors and an all-new disc-loading mechanism manufactured from non-resonant, super-rigid carbon-impregnated polymers are also featured. A coaxial digital output is provided along with full programming capability, a 12-volt trigger output, and an IR-remote input. The RCD-1072 comes in two finishes: matte black, and two-tone matte-silver/matte-black. The Rotel RSDX-2 sells for $1499 USD, while the RCD-1072 costs $699.
