The Samsung LN65B650 65" LCD HDTV is the most recent in their "Touch of Color" series. The "Touch of Color" adds a distinct, artistic red glow around the piano black, glossy bezel of the television. It's accomplished by coating a translucent surface over the frame of bezel.
The high definition television displays content up to a 1080p resolution and utilizes Samsung's "Auto Motion Plus" 120Hz proprietary technology to insert a non-repetitive transition between frames for a smoother picture. Owners can select from blur reduction via frame interpolation, judder reduction or adjusting the picture to include both. Samsung claims the television offers a 100,000 to 1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The Samsung LN65B650 also comes with "Medi@ 2.0", their title for including Internet technology within the television. Via an Ethernet connection, the 65" HDTV implements Yahoo widgets along the sides of the screen. Widgets include video for checking out entertainment / sports videos, Yahoo! News for the recent headlines, Yahoo! Finance for stock quotes as well as weather / sports widgets. The television can also display photos from a Flickr gallery and Youtube videos.
The DLNA certification allows the Samsung LCD to tie into home networks and stream video / audio from a separate source like a computer or an iPhone. Additionally, the USB 2.0 port on the television allows for quick access to digital camera photos or thumb drives loaded with content. It's also Energy Star 3.0 compliant.
Samsung's 65-inch LN65B650 HDTV is positioned at an MSRP of $5999 and will likely begin shipping later this month.
