Welcome all to the first ever edition of AVRev's new article series, Share Your Setup, where the AVRev readers are the subject of the articles. Basically, I thought it'd be fun for us to show off our gear and talk shop in the comments afterwards. I know I love telling friends and family [Palmer's wife edit: and random strangers] about my home theatre setup -- every gadget, every source, every specification and calibration -- and there's bound to be a few others out there like me. Say hello to Travis Gidcumb, everyone. Travis is not only our first victim (muhahahahaha!), but he's also an AVRev reader and facebook fan who has been collecting audio and video gear for the last 25 years. He's rocking a home theatre system with a Pioneer Elite Kuro Plasma wallmounted over his fireplace, a serious 5.1 Klipsch setup (with, count 'em THREE subs) in what appears to be a nicely appointed, wife-friendly, family room. You know, I gotta say. Of course I respect and love the dedicated home theatre -- those perfectly darkend dungeons with giant screens and tiered seating -- but I'm also a huge fan of real, every-day, multipurpose living spaces. And here, Travis has kept things clean (despite his Klipsch RF-7 front towers) with an elegant, a wall-mounted plasma, and in-wall surrounds (also from Klipsch).
So, without further adieu, let's hear what Travis has to share about his setup: TRAVIS. THANKS FOR BEING THE FIRST VOLUNTEER! SO WHERE DOES YOUR TRUE HEART LIE... AUDIOPHILE, VIDEO/CINEPHILE, OR BOTH? Both. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PIECE OF GEAR, AND WHY? REDWINE AUDIO ISABELIINA HPA LPF-V. Because of the sound and the versatility of the battery power.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU FALL IN LOVE WITH AUDIO/VIDEO? I would like a two-channel system consisting of Focal Grande Utopia towers powered by all Mcintosh gear.
