"The War" on PBS
Just watched the first episode of "The War" on PBS & it looked very good.
While the B&W films were showing their age the B&W photos were sharp, you could pick out details like pin stripes on suits & fuzz on wool gloves. The 5.1 surround mix is excellent! Gun shots & explosions came from all around the room & it gave my subwoofer a good work out. I actually got up once to see if it was thunder I heard outside when it was distant artillery sounds from the show. An unexpected explosion will make you jump if you have the sound up! PBS has very good HD shows, unfortunately the quality isn't what it used to be here since they added 5 sub channels! |
