Depends on what the equipment is. Generally separates are better than all in ones though.

Tell us the make and model and we'll tell you what you've got going on there. But generally speaking it depends on whether you're talking about a console (looks like furniture) -OR- one of those thingies that are stacked up and on top there's a TT...those stack-ups are fairly recent additions, usually plastic cased and most likely junk. Whereas a console can be a super TT, like a high-end Garrard and a beautiful tube amp receiver with some darned good speakers! Then you've got something to brag about and it is worth the $$ getting it back up to par.

As for the Home Theater Systems, they kick off with the BDV-HZ970W with 1,000W of amplification and wireless communication with the rear stereo speakers, 1080p HD video, WiFi with DLNA streaming and internet video, and DVD upscaling. You can also use the same iPhone/iPod touch remote app. Then there’s the BDV-E770W and BDV-E570, which like the latter standalone players lack 3D support; the E570 also drops WiFi/DLNA support. No word on pricing or availability
