Vinyl might be the last audiophile format because labels are TOO SCARED to release anything meaningful in HD in a digital format.

The retreat to vinyl is largely fueled by lousy "volume war" CDs and nostalgia. Add a dash of martini bar elitism and you have the retro story of the year. I can do vinyl but don't. Some hopeful digital music news is found here: http://bitstream.soundandvisionmag.c...-ptree-in.html |

I agree with you: I can do vinyl but I also don't.
It takes up too much room to store the records and too much room in my rack. Even on the BEST tables - the dynamics are poor and the signal to noise is high. I will take good digital ANY time over consumer analog on LP. The sad commentary is: there isn't much good digital audio being sold today.

I have teetered back and forth on adding a TT to my rig, while I feel there clearly are sonic plusses to a good TT, I also feel high end CD players have, especially recently, really narrowed the gap to almost nil. Add to that my feeling that hard media will be dead and gone soon and I just can't bring myself to buy one yet....
Maybe once all media is gone I'll buy one for nostalgia....
