Sim2 D80 vs HT380 projector??

Hey All,

I'm trying to decide between the Sim2 D80 or the HT380 projector?

The specs look the same. My Home Theater is small (15' x 12').

We are sitting about 12' from the screen (single row). We will be viewing mostly
1080p movies....not too much TV (65" DLP for that).

Which brings me to another question....

Any thoughts on Stewart MicroPerf screens? I CAN move teh center channel speaker...if
the MicroPerf will degrade the picture?

Thoughts?

Good questions!

Be sure the throw distance will work with the SIM2 otherwise that will be a fine pick. The Epson projector for less than $3,000 looked INCREDIBLE at CEDIA as another option.

I am not a fan of microperf screens unless you REALLY need to use them. I would recomend you use a solid screen and keep the center speaker below it if you can.

Yes, I had my doubts about the perf screens. The center speaker will be a bit low to the ground...about 16" or so...but I'd rather not kill the picture quality.

Do you know if Stewart can "perf" the black part of the screen, only?

That is a good question best directed at a dealer.

If it were me, I wouldn't do it at all. The physics of a screen that is perfed vs non-perfed seems like a no brainer EVEN if you have to use some sort of DSP to make the center speaker seem like it is higher.
