$1000 for a home theater
 

Hi guys,

I don't have much money, but I'd like to enjoy home theater with my roommates. We have a room with a large wall. The video projector could be setup 18' away from the wall.

I know, some of you are like "do it right or don't do it at all", but the situation is what it is, we don't have a big budget, but we'd like to enjoy some movies on a big screen for cheap (gosh, when $1000 became cheap :confused: ).

- We are willing to get low HD 720p
- no 3D is fine (we never really enjoyed any 3D movie in theaters)
- Sound's system can be stereo only (even if a 5.1 could be nice)
- We'd like to watch movie from netflix and/or amazon
- Room can be set pretty dark so no need of a high lumens device

What would be your choices for the device?

So far I've been thinking about the HD20 optoma + appleTV + painting the wall for video-projection ( I found an article to do it for around a $100). I'm kind of worried about the sound system though.

You have less money and want to enjoy home theater with roommates. Just visit any online discount website like retailmenot.com, ezcouponsearch.com, couponcabin.com, deaspls.us etc and find a discount offer of your need.

I have found my favorite one at bestbuy.com. That was not much costly neither with too much facilities.

You could easily manage to get a room home theater for your self, i suggest you to visit the online discount stores which are having a discounts on different products. From there you can easily get your home theater.

In your situation, I would recommend you to wait for sometime to get the price of home theater systems to lower down. Other than that you can always consider buying a used one from online shops.
