Why do videophiles hate "edge enhancement", so much?
Why do professional calibrators invariably disable "edge enhancement" whenever possible? The purpose of "edge enhancement" is presumably to enhance the appearance of "edges". If it really does this, then wouldn't everyone want to enjoy the benefits of this "enhancement"? If it doesn't improve the picture, or actually degrades the picture quality, then why do displays even bother having it. (In many devices, there is not even any way to disable it.) What do you think? Do you use "edge enhancement", or have it disabled? |
