VISUALEDGE SELECTS SILICON OPTIX'S HQV PROCESSING

San Jose, CA—(January 7, 2008)—Silicon Optix, the leader in advanced video processors, announces that Visualedge will use REON HQV™ to power its new video processing solution. VeBox is an OEM video processing solution that brings that power of HQV processing to the mass market by way of gaming systems, set-top boxes, outboard processors, and projection systems.

“We selected the REON HQV because no other chip could deliver the impact, flexibility and performance level,” said Jonathan Lu, President of Visualedge. “We are able to produce this solution at an attractive price point such that the big box retailers will finally be able to offer a system powered by HQV at a price consumers can easily afford.”
Silicon Optix’s Emmy® award winning HQV processing delivers the sharpest and most detailed HD images, possible by utilizing features such as true 1080i-to-1080p HD deinterlacing, and a sophisticated multidirectional diagonal filter that ensures video free from jagged edges. HQV also does an incredible job of making SD material approach HD quality by employing advanced scaling, per-pixel detail enhancement, and noise reduction technology that removes noise and artifacts caused by compression.

“The evolution of HQV in the consumer market has been amazing. And now with the Vebox solution, HQV will be available to a wider audience,” said Jim Mannos, President and CEO of Silicon Optix. “At CES we will demonstrate the VeBox solution connected to a Nintendo® Wii video game platform. It’s the ultimate gaming experience thanks the incredible processing as well as our eWarp technology, that allows a video projector to be placed off axis, away from the players, providing the serious gamer with the ultimate, uninterrupted experience.”

This is excellent. Now, hopefully, the general public will become more educated in what these companies can do, and get on board with the technology. There are many gamers out there, this will help educate them as well.
While I`m talking about this, what is missing is education. Though high end specialty dealers across the globe are closing up, there needs to be more awareness to more consumers. And I`m not talking about the seminars that are had now, when a company wants to introduce their new product, like at Sound by Singer here in New York, or similarly where you guys live.

That is all fine and good, but if we really want to push the envelope, there should be some type of event at these retailers, showing off products and the technology. Not just training seminars for the sales people. We love this stuff, most people are not on it like that.

Does anybody feel this???
