How important is surround sound in a gaming headset?
I'm looking to buy a headset to use with my 360 and PC but I'm trying not to spend more than $80. The problem is, I play a lot of FPS's and I know how useful surround sound is when playing games like Battlefield 3, but headsets with 5.1 or 7.1 cost a lot more. Should I spend the extra money to get a surround headset? Is the difference in sound between 2 channel and surround nearly as noticeable in a headset as it is in a home theater?

I don't think so that you are gonna notice that much effects in a headset compared to home theater system. I also like to play games and always use headsets to get good sound effects. And, if you want to enjoy the best quality sound then consider a set of speakers with subwoofer.
