Best bookshelf surround 5.1 for under $2k
G'day guys,
total newbie here and novice to the AV scene.
I need advice on what would be the best bookshelf speaker set-up to mate up to my Marrantz SR4200 receiver.
I have a 50" Pioneer plasma and timber flooring in a room roughly 7 mtr x 6 mtr.
Looking to buy something under $2,000 and be considerably better than Bose Acoustimass 10 series.
It has been suggested that i go the B&W M1 set-up.
What do you guys suggest ???

I am running the Kef 5005.2 system with a Marantz SSR 8002 in my bedroom and really like it, retail is $2K for the system, but I've seen it for much less.

Give the Paradigm Monitor series a listen, they just came out with the v6 Monitors.
I've had Paradigm monitors for 15 years & they are amazing speakers for the price, absolutely a lot of bang for the buck!
Check them out at

Moose bring a good suggestion to the table, check out some of the small Definitive Technology systems as well, add a sub and you'll be set, both makers will offer you incredible bang for the buck sound.

Thanks guys, will definitely try to audition the Kef and Paradigms as suggested.
Does anyone have an opinion on the B&W M1's ??

I'm using some Klipsch RB81's. They go for around $400 each and you may be able to get a package deal on four of them plus a RC62 for under $2K if you shop around. Of course that doesn't include a sub. If you went with RB61's instead you could throw on a $600 sub. Kef has some very nice bookshelves out too. I really liked the iQ3's when I heard them.

The M1's are a very full small speaker and you would need a good sub to make up for their lacking in the bottom end. They might also not fill your room very well as a larger Klipsch of Kef speaker would.

BTW: Kef, B&W or Klipsch will blow the Acrapstimass speakers out of the water. You'll gain a lot more respect on the forums too.
