So are you saying that full res. uncompressed audio i.e. DTS-HD MA and Dolby TruHD are being sent via analog on BR players?
I understood the analog outs on BR players were only sent core Dolby Digital and core DTS not the full res. uncompressed audio.

As much as I am still bitter about the format war & SONY with its money "clout", I love music so.................if the Stereophile guru gives the "S550" the nod, I'm on the bandwagon......thanks for the great advice!!!!!!

The BDP-S550 doesn't decode DTS HD, only Dolby TrueHD..... I own the 350, but I only need the bitstream output.

are you sure? Dan Ramer just reviewed the Sony at www.dvdfile.com and according to him it decodes all advanced audio codecs:
