Yes the 80G you can buy today will play SACD multichannel over HDMI.

I`d say get a universal player, and use your Playstation as a game console. And if your not into gaming, the answer is simple.

Sorry for joining in the debate rather late but I must correct this: While PS3 can convert SACD's DSD signal to 176.4 kHz 24-bit PCM, it will not output that via optical, only via HDMI. The best quality it will deliver via optical is 44.1 kHz 16-bit PCM stereo. In practice Tos-link can support 88.2 kHz but PS3 doesn't do that on this poutput.

Be aware that since 2008 there are two 80GB models. The 2007 model is SACD-compatible (like the 20GB and 60GB before it), the 2008 model isn't (the same goes for the 160GB model).
