hi everybody,
i just arrived from a visit at B&W in Worthing England,
great to be there again and hear the ct 800 home theater sound system in a dedicated showroom, just incredible...dinamics,clarity and deep bass with fantastic control...
but the best was entering the abbey road recording studios for the first time,i can assure that is an incredible feeling to be in the same place where the best musicians and musical directors go to record and mastering their work, you almost can feel the energy inside the place...fantastic

Very nice that will sure spoil you so when you return home and listen to your own system you will have a basis for comparison.

I go once a month to the LA Philharmonic Symphony at the Walt Disney Concert Hall and that to me is the ultimate sound.

NOW, gold does have the ability of being made ultra pure so has the advantage for some, but the cable are really expensive... Check out the Steath PGS line for an idea.

can't comment on the "science" of gold vs. silver but I do recall that Doug Sax (co-founder of direct-to-disc pioneer Sheffield Lab) used nothing but silver connections (including custom-made silver 1/4" plugs and jacks) in his Mastering Lab setup and, given his well-known dedication to the achieving the best possible sound, we can assume that silver outperforms gold in this context.

Didn't the manufactures gold plate silver connectors for corrosion resistance?
That could be why most people assumed that gold was the better conductor.
