TheMoose's Home Theatre
Well it's not fancy but it's paid for!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DSC01968.jpg Excuse the wiring mess! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DSC02676.jpg My gear, TV= Sony KDS-R70XBR2 with speakers removed. satellite= DirecTV HR20 HD-DVR Receiver= Sony STR-V444ES (just waiting for the new HDMI 1.3 receivers to replace it) CD Player= Sony CDP-601ES Blu-Ray player/game console= Sony Playstation 3 VCR= JVC HR-S7800U Cassette player= Harmon Kardon CD-491 DVD player= DVP NS3100ES Power Center= Monster HTS-3500 MkII Speakers= Paradigm Fronts= Mini MkII Center= CC-200 Surrounds= Atoms Subwoofer= PDR-12 Remote control= Harmony 880 The room is approx 24' X 30' with a vaulted ceiling that is 12' high at the peak, my viewing distance is approx 12'. It's not High end but not bad on a Firefighters salary! It really kicks on Blu-Ray movies & the video games on the PS3 are really immersive with a 70" screen & 5.1 Surround. The next step is to upgrade my receiver, current front runners are the Denon AVR-4308CI & the Sherwood Newcastle R-972 but now that the 1.3 receivers are starting to hit the stores I'll wait till more are released till I make a decision, since I've waited this long I can wait a couple of more months. After the receiver I'll be saving for new speakers, My current Paradigms were purchased in 1994 (except for the Sub) & they have gone through several receivers & I have been very happy with them so I'm wanting the Paradigm studio v4 speakers next. The Bedroom is much simpler http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DSC02777.jpg TV= Sharp Aquos LC-37D62U 1080p LCD satellite= DirecTV HR20 HD-DVR. I may add a simple surround system but then again maybe not, I will add another Playstation 3 for games, Blu-Ray & internet acess. |
Re: TheMoose's Home Theatre
Just a quick update.
The Sony STR-V444ES is off to my parents house to replace their Dolby Surround receiver. In it's place is a shiny new Denon AVR3808ci! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DSC01986.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...r/DSC01988.jpg The remote is not a good design but I have my trusty Harmony 880 set up to run the Denon. I'm still digging into the menus, this sucker has a lot of bells & whistles as well as some nice horsepower! It's going to be a while before I figure everything out. Fortunately I downloaded the owners manual before I got the receiver so I'm not hunting around blind. |

Moose, At least it's in HD! Fancy is overrated, however, pure enjoyment is not. I like it. Keep it up and thanks for being a huge part of this forum. Andrew |

That saved me about $4K!! If I'd have known I wouldn't be replacing the speakers I would have gotten the 4308CI instead, but I'm very happy with the 3808CI! |
