System in its current state has the following
Snell E-II speakers (L/C/R) 15 Inch custom Subwoofers Yamaha MX-830 Power Amps - (x2 for front speaker array) Sony TA-N80ES single-ended Power Amp (powers Subwoofers) Paradigm x-30 Crossover DBX-BX2 powers rear speakers Yamaha P2100 - powers side speakers Sony CDP-C701ES compact disc player BD HTPC - in Bach case Toshiba HD-A2 HD-DVD Player Yamaha RX-V657 7.1 Receiver (used as a preamp) Carver C-9 Sonic Hologram (for old times sake) Motorola DCT6416 III HD-DVR Cable box External DVD Burner Da-Lite 16:9 106 inch screen 32 inch LCD Monitor Not seen: Definitive Technology BP-1 side speakers Definitive Technology BP-2 Rear speakers DCM FullTime Subwoofers (x2) for side speakers - run at full range Panasonic PT-AE700U Projector I also have several other amps and an array of Infinity RS-6B's (x3) that are in another room. I'm slowly trying to make my way back into this thing. I'm finally getting back on my feet finacially and will be making some very high-end purchases this summer (however, I will be wise ). How does this rate for a poor mans system. I may stay with vintage speakers (unless I go to B&W or ML's - we'll see). I doubt if I get rid of the Snells and Infinity's. Here are some pictures and a screen shot of "Cars" in SD. One side is regular SD and the other is upconverted by WinDVD 9 Plus, can you tell the difference?P.S. my music server will be finished soon. It will be invisible but its huge! I have it in a Thermaltake Armor case that holds up to 11 drives! Last edited by prerich; 04-10-2008 at 08:43 PM.. |

The black bar is a demo mode to show the difference between SD and Trimension Upconversion - I can get rid of it at any time. I just put it there to see if people could tell the difference. I took the picture without a flash and this is how it came out.
