There's a ground loop somewhere if your getting a 50-60hz hum. I've seen it happen in PA systems all the time (and they mainly use Balanced XLR connections). Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?

Did you switch between isolated and grounded on the sub? Was there any change between the two?

Yes it was very strange the noise came from using balanced rather than with the RCA go figure?

I have had the same problem between the preamp and the amps may be my pre amp needs to be serviced it is 6 years old after all!

I can't wait until Classe release the SSP800 let's hope it is as good as they say!

"Did you switch between isolated and grounded on the sub? Was there any change between the two? Do you mean when plugged into the electrical outlet? It is grounded JL Audio doesn't recommend using non grounded plugs. I am sure if I plug it with out ground the noise goes away.
