Sorry the AR 9's are a newer version sort of (2000-2001) they are a different design from the early days. The Hi-Res series was the flagship line of Acoustic Research when AR and NHT were under the same roof. The parent company (Recoton) ran into financial problems and sold NHT to try an save them. They filed bankruptcy then AR was sold to Audiovox who took on all of AR's debt, the cable division was sold (GE) seperatly as well. Sorry for the back story but the good ol days and legacy of AR are no more.

No, BTW, thanks for the trip done memory lane. I used to sell the OLD AR9`s. AR a well respected company back in the days of ADVENT made some pretty nice speakers. Its sad to hear what happened. I didn`t realize the accessory giant Recoton took them over.
You do have a nice setup. How do you like the new AR9`s, and how do the Outlaw`s stack up for power? I know the old AR9`s were quite power hungry. Soaked up many a power amplifier!!!

The AR9's are no power hungry at all compared to their older breatheran, the Outlaw's are 200W mono blocks that sound very clean and smooth. Here are the specs on the AR9's below.

Do a quick experiment:

Put on your favorite demo track and listen to 90 seconds.

Then remove the Matrix poster and see if the image gets more focused or balanced sounding. If not, hang the sucker back up there and than Neo that you are all good.

The glass can bend the image on a KEY reflection sometimes.

I might also be an annoying "recovering" audiophile who can be easily ignored!!!!

Checked out the reviews. Everyone seemed very pleased with the performance. Good to see a company from the early days of audio, still in the game. I just hope the word gets out.
