Yes all PS3 games are on Blu-Ray & as far as I know they should work, I have imported games from Europe (which uses PAL) & they play with no problems in my North American (NTSC) PS3.

Is it an XBR model? if so call Sony ASAP & get the optical block replaced, if it's an XBR 2 it will still be under an extended warranty for the optical block, if it's an XBR 1 it may be too late but...

Outlaw has a neat distribution method that can save the customer money but, unfortunately that means it is very difficult to audition...

Check your firewall settings to make sure it's allowing the computer to talk to the Denon.
Try turning off the firewall completely & see if it works then, if it does you know what the problem is.

Even though you won't be getting the full resolution it's still double the resolution of SD DVD's (even upconverted it's just 480 upconverted) so yes you'll see a noticeable improvement.
