Default External USB hard drive for ViP722

I just got a 750 GB HD for my 722. But that is still inadequate. It is amazing how fast you can fill them up! Is there any way to get a larger hard drive to work? Has anyone tried? I would love to get 2 or 3 TB drive on there; but Dish "recommends" 750 GB maximum.

Is Dish still charging for using the external drive capability? I was going to wait until they made that a free add-on. Besides, I have 3 ViP622 boxes, so I pretty much have everything saved that I want for now.

Yes, there is a one-time activation fee to enable the feature. It is surprising how fast you can fill up the space with HD content! I doubt they will make it free, since they always like to charge extra fees for eveything they can think of!

I agree. All these services seem to nickel and dime you as much as possible.

Yes, Dish still charges a one time $39.99 fee to enable EHD capability for *all* of the capable DVRs on your account. It allows you to use an unlimited number of EHDs on your boxes.

It just feels like all the providers nickel and dime the consumer to death. I think our bill is like ~ $150/mo. or more now w/ 3 DVRs and 3 HD receivers which is actually way better than what DirecTV wanted.
