What do you expect from a stock remote?

Nothing.

I count on the fact that Universal Remote will offer the cheap solution and AMX offers the easiest to use albeit much more expensive solution.

Now I realize what I am about to say is a complete waste of data transmission and time, But since you asked...
The Ideal manufacturers remote would have
Power On and Power Off separate buttons other wise know as discrete commands, for all zones offered by the device.
It would have a separate button for every input.
NO SCROLLING BUTTONS WHERE YOU HAVE TO KEEP HITTING IT UNTIL YOU GET THE INPUT YOU WANT!!!.
It would have a separate button for every surround mode and every picture mode.
It would have a separate volume control and mute button for every Zone offered.
It would have separate tuner buttons for at least 8 memories.
It would allow computer programing with a standard labtop and a USB connection so you can save your programing file for emergencies (the dog ate my remote) but could still be programmed head to head.
It would allow you to program at least 4 other devices
and via the use of macro command strings, to press a source (CD) that would turn on the Amp, the TV, the CD player, and bring up the Guide on the TV.

I got one for you kenny, my daughter needs a remote for her college dorm room. She has a memorex (yes!) dvd player, a 20 inch Toshiba stereo tv, and cable box. What is a good universal remote that is simple, and will not cost me a bunch?

How about a Logitech Harmony 550, $80 at Amazon.
I haven't used one but if the setup is similar to my 880 it's easy to set up & $80 isn't too expensive.

Thank you. I was looking under 100.00. I`m only doing this because my daughters friend, lost her Toshiba tv remote. I`ll see if Best Buy or Circuit City has it. Thanks, I appreciate it!!!
