You (or some other knowlegable chap) mentioned that you would be able to see if you needed an update as opposed to just starting the process. Is there any more information that can be provided on that?

When I did the Nov 3rd 1.57 update (it did not require a reset like the original October update did) I was able to go to,
Menu, manual setup, option setup, firmware update, Check for update.

If you don't see the check for update option then you do not have the latest firmware.

I suppose an update after my 1.28 revision, (perhaps 1.57 was the next), provided the "Check for Update" option. Would you be so kind as to post a response here? As mentioned, I am waiting for the December update.

(Or is a thread devoted to Denon 3808CI Firmware Updates required?)

I'm not sure what you are saying, or why you are waiting for a December update, The November 1.57 update added the check for update option for me & it did not require a reset like 1.28 did.

Also these firmware numbers I'm giving is for U.S. models, European models have a different firmware number.

hey guys, I'm also looking seriously at buying the AVR3808 (or 2808) and I was also going to upgrade my DVD player to an Oppo DV981 for the quality 1080P upconversion.

so the question... since the AVR3808 and Oppo DV981 both use Faroudja DCDi for 1080P upconversion, do I really need to upgrade my DVD player? I already have a decent HDMI DVD player and SONY 50" 1080P SXRD monitor. I am starting to think that all I really need is the AVR3808.

thoughts? thanks in advance for any replies, appreciate it.
