Cool Re: Denon AVR3808CI

For those of you with this receiver there is a new firmware update for it,
The new Main firmware # is 1.57 (my previous version was 1.28) & while I haven't been through everything I did find some changes.
There is a new option called add new features, yea I tried it but it said no new features were available but this tells me there may be new features soon.
There was also a new option called check for updates so you can check instead of just blindly starting an update to see if there is one.
Also while typing this I noticed if you leave the menu on a screen saver comes up after a couple of mins.
There is also a new update procedure & it was a smooth update with no hang ups or wondering if it was really finished like the last time.

Also Denon is updating their web site so they can announce when firmware updates are available, they said they were changing the look of the entire web site, look for that in December.

EDIT
I noticed there is a new icon on the display now too, "monitor" lights up under the volume level in the upper right hand corner when my display is on.

How do I see the current firmware rev installed in my Denon? I upgraded a few weeks ago without any difficulties, just curious how to see what the rev is?

Well I'm not at home where I can see my receiver but if you turn it off with the small button, hold down the status & return buttons while turning it back on you can hit status & cycle through all the info about the receiver including the firmware numbers.
Here's what mine is showing as current,

Main: 1.57
Sub: 0.38
DSP1: 36.49
DSP2: 39.41

Also look at my post just above yours for new things you should have in your menu if you have the latest version.

Thanks. Here are the exact detail that may help others.

In order to see some background status information, such as the current firmware revision, follow these procedures from the front panel: make sure it is On, then turn it off with the small button. While holding down the return and status buttons, turn it on with the small buttons. The Serial number will display. Keep hitting the status button to cycle through the settings.

My settings are:
Serial Number: 705150XXXX
Main : 1.28, Sub : 00.32
DSP1 36.49, DSP2 39.39
Ethernet IMG I200709050353
Ethernet BL B200707020733
Ethernet CNE C 20070905
Ethernet Web W200709050354
Ethernet MAC 005cd-XXXXXXX
GUI FPGA Config A070129B
GUI PRG 00007621
GUI DAT 37750004
DGTL PLD : 00.50

I put the Xs in the S/N and MAC address, God knows why!

My revision shows the Monitor indication as well.

It looks like you have the first update but not the update released on 11-03-07 (1.57).
Try another update & see what your firmware numbers are.

I read that the December update that will not cause settings to be lost. Think I will wait until I see that one out.

You (or some other knowlegable chap) mentioned that you would be able to see if you needed an update as opposed to just starting the process. Is there any more information that can be provided on that?
