I recently bought a Denon AVR-3808CI and I'm trying to figure out how to stream music files from my computer to the receiver. I'm running my PS3 and Time-Warner Cable hd-receiver into the avr and then from the receiver to my Sony lcd all with hdmi. Since the receiver has to have a hardwired connection for firmware upgrades, I bought a Linksys WGA600N gaming adapter which works great. The gaming adapter only had one ethernet connection and I wanted to also connect my PS3 to it(for better connectivity), I connected an ethernet hub to it and then connected the receiver and ps3 to the hub. Now with this setup I'm able to get internet radio, control the receiver through the web browser and upgrade the firmware. But here's where I'm having problems: my computer doesn't recognize the receiver and therefore can't "allow" it to play files. What am I doing wrong? Is my setup too complicated? Help

Consider just streaming the music library using a Logitech Duet squeeze player device.
or if the computer is closer to the receiver or if you can copy the muisic to an external harddrive, then just buy a western Digital WD HD TV box from local store or online and it can play audio files from a USB attached storage device across HDMI, etc.

Try eliminating the switch (ethernet hub) and if still no joy, try hooking direct with an ethernet cable as a test. If that works add the switch. If it still works, the problem is in the wireless adapter.

Have you told your computer to allow file sharing with the Denon?
If not, Open windows media player 11 in Vista, click on Library & then media sharing. See if your Denon is in the list, highlight it & click allow. Also make sure your firewall isn't blocking it. |

Good one. I had assumed he had tried that.
