wireless ethernet adapter for av receiver

I recently purchased a new yamaha RX-V3900. This receiver has an ethernet port for streaming audio files such as mp3's from a computer or NAS to the receiver. Unfortunately I don't have a ethernet outlet in my living room and don't want to drill holes in my walls for a Cat 6 cable. Does anyone know if there are any wireless adapters for this purpose. I have seen ads for " wireless gaming adaptes"r for a similar purpose to add an xbox or PS3 to your network wirelessly. Has anyone tried anything like this?

Netgear makes an ethernet connection system that utilizes your existing electrical outlet and wiring for transmission. You connect one unit to your router and directly to an electrical outlet and then another unit to an outlet by your media center. You can then run an ethernet cable to your AV reciever from the media center outlet attachment and establish an internet connection.

Here is the link-http://www.netgear.com/Products/PowerlineNetworking/PowerlineEthernetAdapters/XE104G.aspx

I got turned on to this via one of the reviews in Amazon for AV receivers with internet capability. The reviewer was very pleased. The system is not expensive. Hope this info helps.

The Netgear option above would work well. If you use iTunes, then I think the Apple Airport Express would work well too. It's a little cheaper, but uses analogue inputs, in addition to ethernet. http://www.apple.com/airportexpress/ If you have an iPhone or Ipod Touch, you can use the Remote app to control the tunage...

Just buy one of the Vudu wireless bridge kits from their online store. It's made by "asus" and a really nice unit.
It's a pre-paired wireless access bridge. One small box that plugs into your homes router via a Cat 5e cable. Then another unit that plugs via Cat 5e into your receiver. The two pieces talk to each other using wireless internet secure protocols...the nice thing being that you don't have to configure ANYTHING. Just plug and play and it works right out of the box.

There's not admin config page that you have to edit or modify, etc.

Note: the unit that will plug into your receiver is intended to obtain AC power from a USB port. Assuming your receiver doesn't have a USB port to provide it with power, you'll just need to get a basic AC to USB power adapter from local Radio Shack.

Goto the Vudu store online to buy the product. It can't be found online anywhere else. It can't be purchased thru distributors or Vudu resellers (like myself) for any cheaper than what you see posted online. It's also not sold by Asus as a stand alone or non-Vudu product. Give it a a whirl...works like a champ !
