Must I switch audio sugnal types when changing sources?

Browsing an on-line edition of the manual for my [en route] Yamaha HTR-6160 [a.k.a., Yamaha RX-V663] I noted under “HDMI signal compatibility” [Page 22] a table in which this appeared:

• DSD for SACD
• Multi-channel linear PCM for DVD-Audio
• Bitsteam for DVD-Video

I will be connecting a Yamaha DVD-C961 [DVD, DVD-A, SACD] changer to the receiver via HDMI. Will I be forced to re-select the “audio signal type” with each type of media?

I am not familiar with this receiver, but you hopefully won't.

Check the manual and see if it automatically recognizes the type of digital input, if so, your good.
