Onkyo TX-SR806 ($1,099) and the TX-SR706 ($899) are both THX-certified, with THX Loudness Plus audio processing. With five HDMI 1.3 inputs, the TX-SR806 promises 1080p video upscaling, a Faroudja DCDi Cinema video processor, Audyssey MultEQ automatic calibration, and support for both XM and Sirius Satellite Radio. The TX-SR706 has many similar features. However, it only has four HDMI inputs—and compatibility for HDMI v. 1.3a. The TX-SR706 is available now, with the SR806 coming by the middle of next month.
If you’re looking to spruce up your entire system, Onkyo can do it in one shot, via the HT-S7100 or the HT-S6100 home-theater-in-a-box system. Just announced, each unit combines a 130-watt-per-channel receiver, HDMI inputs for up the four sources, and 1080i video upscaling with 7.1-channel sound. Each set includes seven satellite speakers and a subwoofer. The only difference in each system is that the HT-S7100 has an A/V-capable DS-A1XP dock, while the HT-S6100 features the audio-only DS-A1L. One other difference: The HT-S6100 is shipping now for $699, and the HT-S7100 will come next month for an extra $100. http://www.electronichouse.com/artic..._thib_systems/ |

I can only weigh in on amp qualities: I prefer Denon, they seem more robust with greater heft and umphh! if you no what I mean.

Onkyo expanded its range of amplifiers with the launch of its two new powerful amplifiers TX-NA906X and TX-SA806X. Offering unrivaled audio quality with no distortion, the amplifiers are REGZA Link, AQUOS Link and VIERA Link compatible. The frequency response of 5Hz-100kHz, RIHD, total harmonic distortion of 0.05% etc are few features which make them deliver distortion free high quality audio. The amplifiers not only support DTS-HD Master Audio codecs / Dolby True HD but also WMA / MP3 / AAC audio files. The HDMI interface with 4 inputs and 2 outputs, Ethernet and USB inputs add to the usability. Available from 29th August, 2008 onwards, the TX-NA906X is priced at $3,300 and TX-SA806X is priced at $2,400.
