Yamaha Introduces New Line of HTiB Systems

Yamaha Electronics Corporation introduces its latest line of Home-Theater-in-a-Box (HTIB) systems that provides consumers with the ability to playback content from Sirius and XM Satellite Radio, as well as iPods or Bluetooth (A2DP) enabled phones, computers and PDAs with optional Yamaha direct connect accessories. In addition, all systems feature SCENE modes to instantly access any entertainment source and surround sound experience, and Compressed Music Enhancer that improves the sound quality of compressed music from any audio source. The top two systems in the line have YPAO system calibration and intuitive onscreen displays for all system functions.

To deliver the highest possible video quality to HD displays, all systems feature an HDMI interface, with two inputs and one output, for connecting up to two HDMI sources, such as Blu-ray players and high definition set-top boxes. The YHT-790 and YHT-690 also accept HD Audio LPCM 5.1 channel reception up to 96kHz via HDMI interface.

Yamaha’s exclusive SCENE mode allows users to maximize their audio experience at the touch of a button via a set of four customizable SCENE buttons on the front panel of the receiver. These SCENE modes automatically turn on the system and activate the functions and technologies to best deliver TV, DVD, CD, iPod, Bluetooth or Satellite Radio content.

The YHT-790 and YHT-690 offer both Sirius Satellite Radio and XM Satellite Radio compatibility (including XM HD Surround powered by Neural Surround), allowing users to enjoy the hundreds of stations with CD quality sound via optional antennas and paid subscriptions to these services. Neural Surround™ technology enhances the experience of XM HD Surround, delivering a detailed sound stage with superior 5.1 channel separation.

Each model in the line allows users to wirelessly listen to music stored on A2DP Bluetooth-enabled mobile phones or computers via their home entertainment systems with the optional Yamaha Bluetooth wireless audio receiver (YBA-10). All systems in the line are also iPod-compatible via the optional Yamaha iPod docking station. Once docked, the iPod can be operated (song selection, play, etc.) via the AV receiver’s remote control. In addition, docked iPods are automatically charged so that they are ready to be taken on the go at all times.

Yamaha’s proprietary Compressed Music Enhancer, which is featured in all four systems, improves the quality of audio files compressed from CDs or downloaded from the Internet as they are played back from any compatible source. The improvement in audio is especially apparent when listening to this music in stereo.

The YHT-690 features a DVD player that enables HDMI 1080i/720p upscaling and High-Definition JPEG picture playback at their native resolution via HDMI 1080i or 720p video signals.

The YHT-790 and YHT-690 feature the company’s proprietary Yamaha Parametric Room Acoustic Optimizer (YPAO) technology and Optimizer Microphone that simplify the home theater set-up process by automatically assessing and adjusting to room acoustics via a parametric equalizer.

All of the new systems feature Yamaha’s advanced CINEMA DSP that provides a choice of 8 realistic-sounding surround programs (3 HiFi, 5 Cinema) and is capable of delivering 5.1 channels of sound that is compatible with all the latest surround sound formats. The systems also offer a SILENT CINEMA mode for enjoying surround-like sound through headphones.

Leading the series of four new models is the YHT-790 system that perfectly complements flat panel LCD or plasma monitors with its five “flat-design” speakers and a slim subwoofer, all with an elegant high gloss piano finish. The YHT-590 also features “flat-design” speakers and a slim subwoofer that complement flat TV monitors.

Each of Yamaha’s new HTIB systems are comprised of full-fledged Yamaha-manufactured components to provide consumers a convenient and cost-effective way to complete a quality surround sound home entertainment system. Yamaha’s latest YHT series models start at a suggested retail price of $399.95.
